Hawaii Community Foundation Holds Grantwriting Seminar

The Hawaii Community Foundation will eonduct a one day seminar entitled "Foundation Funding" on Friday, February 24, 1989 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the South Pacific ballroom of the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The overall purpose of the seminar is to assist tax-exempt organizations to obtain grants from foundations. The seminar will cover four major topics: 1. Researching loeal foundations for funding, and recent changes in foundation funding policies and procedures;

2. Using reference materials from the Foundation Center Regional Collection to identify mainland foundations that are potential sources of funds for loeal programs and projects; 3. Packaging proposals for loeal foundations; using strategic network relationships; understanding acceptable standards for the elements of a basic proposal; and 4. Information on funds available to help needy

individuals. The seminar will include lectures and group exercises and will conclude with a question and answer session. The cost of the seminar is $60 per person; luneh and parking are included. The Hawaii Community Foundation is also offering a one hour seminar on July 28 on making grant applications to the Black Fund. It is offered at no charge to participants of the February seminar. The Black Fund is the Hawaii Community Foundation's newest and largest fund, and supports loeal programs in health, education, and cultural preservation.
