Christmas tree recycling centers to open

Christmas tree recycling centers will accept holiday trees from individuals from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on two consecutive Saturdays, Jan. 4 and 1 1 at central sites on six islands. For information on O'ahu eall 533-CHIP. On Maui centers will be at Hana, Haiku, Pukalani, Kihei, Wailea, Wailuku and Maalia. On Hawai'i, centers will be at Lanihou Shopping Center, Waimea and Prince Kuhio Plaza. On O'ahu sites will be at Aloha Stadium, Wai'anae Comprehensive Health Center,

Kapalama Elementary, Maunawili Elementary, Kailua Recreation Center, Wahiawa Botanical Gardens, Waimea Falls Park and the following high schools: Castle, Kaiser, Waipahu, Mililani, and Kaimuki. The trees will be chipped into muleh for use at the botanical gardens, city and county parks and other community centers. Volunteers are needed. Those interested in participating as contributors or as staff for the centers are asked to eall Chris Summers at 5261400.
