LEKA Kālele KWO FOCUS LETTER

Dear Native Hawaiian community. I am an Amenean Indian researching the experiences of indigenous peoples during World War II. I very mueh hope to correspond with Native Hawaiian elders who have memories of WWII to share. I would like to correspond with any Native Hawaiian who served in the military, Red Cross, merchant marines, civil air patrol, civil defense organizations, USO, puhlie health uniformed service, or held a war-related industry job. I'm also interested in Native Hawaiians who worked in civilian hospitals, agricultural production or were involved in civilian hospitals, agricultural production or were involved in civil rights issues for Hawaiians and others during the war years.

I'm also interested in knowing of any damage to the islands' environment or wildlife caused by the American military during the war years. Hawaiian women, persons who were children during the war years and mixed blood Hawaiians are encouraged to reply. I very mueh want a Native Hawaiian perspective for this history project. I am also wanting to learn more about the Chomorro (Guam native) experiences. If anyone knows of Chamorro organizations or ethnic newspapers, could you please let me know? Please write to me at: P.O.
