OHA WELCOMES INDIGENOUS AND NATIVE AMERICAN SOCIETY PARTICIPANTS

OHA Advocacy and Research leaders on May 14 welcomed participants of the U.S. State Department's lnternational Visitor Leadership Program, whieh conducted a project for poliheal, civic and private sector leaders within indigenous communities. During theirvisitto OHA's boardroom, the six participants of the project "lndigenous and Native American Society in the 21 st Century: A Regional Project for South America," heard aboutthe history of Hawai'i, struggles over loss of land and natural resources and the Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act, aka the Akaka Bill, pending in Congress.
