Aloha mai käkou,

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) will be holding a Database Open House to welcome 2010.  This unique networking opportunity will allow people, agencies and organizations to come together and share or learn about the different types of land database projects that are being worked on in our community.  It is OHA's hope that this will allow participants to maximize resources and prevent duplication of work, while increasing the potential of partnerships.  Here is the info:

When: Tuesday, January 12th
Time: 9:30 am - 11:30 am
Where: OHA Boardroom - 711 Kapiÿolani Blvd., Suite 500

We ask that people participate in one of the two ways listed below.

1.   Presentation:  Individuals or organizations will be given the opportunity to give a presentation on the database(s) that they are designing or have established.  The presentation should cover basic information, such as what type of info is being stored, who has or will have access to it and if there's potential to work with any other groups by sharing information.  The presentation does not have to include an actual tour of the database or releasing of information.  The OHA Boardroom has internet capability and the use of a Smartboard for PowerPoint documents.  Please let us know what technology you will need for your presentation.

2.   Observation:  Individuals or organizations may attend and do not need to do a presentation.

Once we know the number of presentations we will provide a time limit for them.  Please also be ready to answer questions at the end of your presentation.

Attendees are highly encouraged to give a presentation however we understand that not all organizations will be able to share because of cultural, legal or agency sensitive information.

Please RSVP by Tuesday, Jan. 5.  When responding, please state whether you anticipate giving a presentation or just observing.  Also be sure to include if you need any specific technology.  Based on the number of presentations, we will determine the maximum time allotted for those presentations.

I truly hope that you will be able to join us as we all move forward with our efforts.  If you have any questions or would like further clarification on the meeting, please feel free to contact me at anytime.

Mahalo and Happy Holidays,
