"Keakalauae Heiau, Walker Site 140. A high hill, on the west bank of Punahoʻa valley, overlooking the sea at Mokulau. It is just above the road leading to Kaupo [from Kipahulu]. One of the largest of the Kaupo heiaus and also credited to Kekaulike about 1730. Its greatest dimensions are 168 x 330 feet... also used as a Puuhonua, or Hill of Refuge..." (Sterling) "Popoiwi is referred to as a heiau on a land of the same name, though known to some of the old residents as Hanakalauai.." (Thrum 1916) Usually known as Popoiwi (q.v.).
