Whereas, the Provisional Goremment propcses to eall a Constitutional Conveotion for tfae porpose of preparing a new Constitation for tbe Hawaiian Islands. al!owing only 1S delegates to be elected to sit with the now elected members of the present Executive and Advisory Councils, whieh Lody consists of uineteen members whieh woald constitute a majority of the pro- j posed conveution, and therefore able to defeat any wishes of the Hawaiian Peeple. And wheroas it is further proposed to allow all foreigners who were in the eonntry ou or before Janoarv lst, ’94, the right of francfaise,nnd, whereas, eaeh delegate and eaeh voter will be obligcd to take an oath 1 derogatory to the dignity, traditions and autonomy of the Hawaiian Natiou whieh is a clear violation of their Constitutiona. rights. Therefore, be it resolved that \ve earnestly recomraeud all 1 members of the ‘‘Hui Al >ba Aina” and all Hawaiian sympatbizers to refrain fiom participating iu the coming electiou for delegates to the proposed eonvention. And all raembers of the “Hui Aloha Aina” are especially cantioned against taking any of the prescribed oaths or taking any part whatever in tbo aforemeutioned elections, or joining any of the clubs started to pre j pare the samo, and from joiuing in any acts whatever affectmg tbe Hawaiian Natiou or people’s appeal now under consideration before the Esecutive and Legis- ; !ative anthority of the American Natioa.
