PUBLIC SERVICES AT CENTRAL UNION CHURCH

REV. WM. KINCAID ON "FAITH." Large Audience Hears the Subject Developed — Mrs. Howard Sings a Sopraro Sole — Mr. Kincaid Will Sqeak Again Tonight. The first night of the second week of public services at the Central Union Church found a large audience gathered in the church to hear the Rev. William M. Kincaid preach on "Faith." A short singing service preceded the address, during which Mrs. Geo. A. Howard sang a soprano solo with much effect. Professor Ingalls presided at the piano. The Rev. Mr. Kincaid had chosen for his text the words of the apostle Peter: "Master we have toiled all the night long and have caught nothing." He described to his hearers the scene on the border of the lake. Peter was discouraged and disgusted over the poor results of his fishing and had given up all hope when Christ appeared and remonstrated with Peter for his lack of faith. Peter answered: "Master we have toiled all the night long and have caught nothing. Nevertheless Lord, at thy command. I will again throw my net.” His faith aided him. "Faith," said the speaker, "is one of the greatest blessings of God. We ■ walk by faith, we resist by faith, we overcome difficulties, we live, we love by faith. Some people ridicule faith as childish. Look at the history of the Church. It is a splendid record of the triumphs of faith. Faith gives the power to resist temptation; it helps to live a saintly life; it helps to save souls. Listen to the words of Christ: Behold thy early duty and consecrate thyself to my service. Find me and I will make you savior of men." At this evening’s service the Rev. William Morris Kincaid will speak on the text "Take Ye Away the Stone."
