Ka Haiolelo

Office of Hawaiian Affairs

Since the appearance of our'story on OHA by Nathan Aipa in the last issue of Ke Alahou, we want to encourage dur readers to register and vote in the November elections. It has taken us awhile to peaeh this agreement as some of us have chosen not to register to vote out of mistrust, caution and a need for more information. It should be pointed out that the "betterment" for native Hawaiians and Hawaiians has not been spelled out as of yet. No one knows who is actually running for office or who will be the director. Perhaps when the election date draws near these mysteries may become known, until then we ean only encourage you to find out more about OHA, its officers, its role in government and so on. We do agree that OHA in the near future may be one of the most important government agencies in determining the future for Hawaiians. Lastly, we urge you not to register just because you happen to be Hawailaji. . . know what you are voting for and why you are voting, and we believe your participation will be more meaningful to āll. Mahope o ka ho'opuka 'ana o ka mo'olelo no OHA ma ka helu hope loa, ua ho'oholo e paipai i ka makou mau mea heluhelue ho'op.a'a inoa no ke koho a e koho ma ka la koho ma November.
