! "There are no more commendable traits In the hliman eharacter l.han ]oyalty and gratitude; conversely there are no more despicable traits than disloyalty and ingratitude. "On the basis of the electoral col!ege vote in Tuesday's eleetion, 98.4 percent of the Ameriean people showed their loya!ty and gratitude to Pres. Roosevelt by casting their votes for him on the Mainland. "īn that election it was not" a question of standing by a party that gives us good or better government. We should give credit where predit is due; be loyal to those who have been loyal to us, and be-grateful to those in power who have done us favors; if we really wish to see our country and our people proceed along lines whoreby this America of !ours would be a better country lin whieh to live and to make it |what our forefathers intended it |to be. . i ''Unless we give encouragement to those in publlc office who have served us well, when credit ls due, especially so in the cr«se of we deserve wnat we get. "As I say, the eiectoral col!ege vote showed that 98.4 perecent of our people appreciated the government that they have had the past four years. Here in Hawaii the people were not loyal nor were they grateful, as they showed by their votes. "I am not only suprised, but I am actually asiiamed of some of our leaders in the Territory. After what he has done for Hawaii, the voters showed that they were disloyal and ungrateful to the Presideat. "I aiu re|iabiy informed that Hawail .;contr.ibuted $250,000 to t>ie Repubiican national eampaign fund; in other words this Territory bought one quarter of one of GK>vernor Landon's eight electorai yQtes. "If this siljuation were not so tragic it would .be excruciatingly funny."
