DEATH INTERVENES AFTER MAN INDICTED

Fred Kama Keomaka, of Waipio, died last Friday at the Hilo Memorial hospital two hours after the grand jury had indicted him on two charges of statuary offenses. He had been in the hospital only about a week, having been taken there from the Hilo jail. Police reported that Keomaka had attempted to commit suicide several times in his cell and had reduced himself to a weak condition by refusing to eat. Jail guards are said to have found the man slowly starving himself by throwing his food away. He is survived by a widow and several children.
