The Hawaiian Astronomy.

16, 17,18, 19, 20, —The Stars of Wailoa, Pupue, Manaku, Paao and Makuakaumana. These stars are below the Makalii group. They look like a double eanoe. Note—ln the Hawaiian Royal genealogy, begining from Wakea (k) and Papa (w), we find the name Wailoa —long water —was the son ol Nanakehili or Kekaihili (k) and Haulani (w), being the fifth in descent from Wakea (k). Pupue— to lie bundled up —was a grandson of Wailoa Manaku k. —(verj' old Hawaiian word, meaning; humm excmiwts.)—was the son of Pupue. Paao was the Samoan ehiei and kahuna who arrived at Hawaii nei about the thirteenth century. Makuakaumana was a prophet, that eame with Paao. 21, & 22—Wai£ and KEKAIHILI (Nanakehili). These two stars are near the stars Kane and Keaka(?) and a little furth«r away from the stars Wailoa, Pupue, Manaku, Paao and Makuakaumana. Note—-Waia, ln the Hawaiian Royal Genealogy, was the son of Haloa (k) and Hinamanouluae (w). He was thirdin descent from Wakea. Kekaihih or Nanakehili, was a grandson of Waia He was the fifth in descent from Wakea.
