KA LEO O KA LAHUI.

"E Mau ke Ea o ka Aina i ka Pono."

Anonymouse letters.

The friends and supporters of the present Ministry are utterly discomfitted by finding out that the Supreme Court does not unanimously sustain the ridiculous pretentions of the four little kings in denying to our new Sovereign the right to appoint her own advisers. The wrath of the ministerial sycophants manifests itself by a threatenting anonymous letter addressed to Chancellor Judd, who is reported to be sustaining the Queen’s rights; and the same letter contains a direct threat against the Queen herself, if she dares to dismiss the four little kings. The Bible teaches us what will ultimately befall to men who resort to such vile measures to sustain their rickety power and their greed for office; and whilst congratulating Chancellor Judd on his independent stand, we say that he need not be afraid of the threats of the ministerial crowd for the reason that men who are low enough to resort to anonymous denunciations always lack the courage of direct action.

A new cabinet would restore the confidence of business interests and money which up to the present has been kept “tight” from the want of confidence of our capitalists in the present deceitful, treacherous and inactive ministers, would at once become of easier investment.

From every stand point, therefore, we decidedly endorse the policy of Her Majesty, and the would-be kings have taken upon themselves a most grave responsibility by resisting to the just demands of Queen Liluokalani, who has the cordial support of the nation.

Crocodile Regrets

The P.C. Advertiser, organ of the old and nefarious Reform Party and of the present Ministry, after ignoring the ministerial crisis for several days, comes out at last against the Queen, and proclaims, that “from every stand point, whether legal or illegal, the demand of the Queen ( for resignation of the Cabinet) is ill-judged, ill-advised and alike injurious to the Crown and the country.” We beg to differ most decidedly with the senile organ of the insurrectional party of 1887. We saw that every new Sovereign has a inherent right, which cannot be curtailed, of selecting and appointing his advisers and Ministers at the beginning of his reign, and there is nothing to the contrary in our bastard constitution.  We intend that a change of cabinet will work the greatest benefit to the country for the present one has only done one thing, work to keep itself in power, whilst it has neglected, ignored, and refused to carry out the measures voted by the legislature, ( example, the Oahu Railroad, the Honolulu Harbor, the line from Hilo to California, the improvements to public roads, the improvements in salaries of school teachers, etc, etc.)  A new cabinet would certainly do what the present one has failed to do.
