            He kama lei na na wahine i ka maka o ka Opua-e.

            A pau ae la kana mele ana ma ka moeuhane, alaila, u-wi iho la kona kui, me ka u-u ana o kona leo, haalulu ae la kona kino, a puke ae la kona mau kuli, a no ka nui o ka leo o ua Alii nei, puoho ae la kana wahine mai ka hiamoe nui, a hoala aku la oia i ke Alii, a no ke ala ole ae i kana hooluliluli, nolaila, kuikui iho la oia, ia manawa puoho ae la ua Alii nei, me kona haalulu nui; alaila ninau aku la kana Aliiwahine ia ia, "Heaha keia ou i nui iho nei ko leo, a hoala aku nei au ia oe?"

            Alaila, hai mai la ke Aliikane i kana wahine,  i na mea a pau ana i ike ai ma ka moeuhane, i haiia'e nei maluna.

            A pau ae la ka ke Alii hai ana i kaua moeimua o ke Aliiwahine, alaila, akoakoa mai la na kaukaualii e kali ana hoi no ka hiki mai o Hoakalei, (ke Kahuna,) a i ka hoomaka ana mai o ka la e hohola i kona malamalama maluna o ka aina, ia manawa hiki mai la ke Kahuna imua o ke Alii, a hapai ae la la ua Kahuna nei i kana wahi mele, penei.

 

"Ia oni aloha i ka ulu o ka moe,

I ka oliko pua makani kaiaulu olalo,

Aloha ka lake kaiaulu oiaio,

I ka naulu e ho-a nei i ke kai,

Enaena ua koko ke kula i ka la,

I ka pehia e ka la o Makalii,

He Alii nui oe na'u e ka makemake,

E aloha la hoi au e uwe mai oe,

Oia, oia nei no-e."

 

            A pau ae la keia mele ana a ua Kahuna nei, alaila, ninau aku la oia i ke Alii. "Heaha kau moe i ka po nei?" Alaila, hai mai la ke Alii i ke Kahuna, i na mea a pau ana i ike ai ma kana moe i haiia'e nei maluna.

            Ia manawa, hai mai la ke Kahuna i ke ano o ka ke Alii moe, imua o na kaukaualii, a me ke Alii pu kekahi, o ka lala melemele au i ike ai, o kona ano, oia no kela keiki alualu a olua i hanau ai, a laweia'i e kanu; aka, ua kolo keia a noho iloko o ka wai, a iloko o na la ua nui i hala ku nei, ua laweia e ka wai a hiki i ka moana uliuli lipolipo, ua nui nae ua keiki nei a olua i keia manawa, a he kupu eu oia no ka moana, oia no kela mea a Haupu, (ke kiu) i ike ai i ka hoea ana'e mailoko ae o ka hohonu, e he kuahiwi la, oia hoi o Kuilioloa. (oia hoi ka ilio a Lono kapena Kuke, i ki ai i ka poka nui, ia Kulokuloku, a maihiia'i ka punui.)

            "A o ke ano o ka lala ma ke komohana, he ulaula kona kina, a me ka manu ulaula e kau ana maluna au i ike aku ai, oia hoi, e loaa hou aku ana ka olua keiki ma keia hope iho, oia nae ke keiki maikai loaa olua, a ma ia hope aku nae, aole e loaa hou ana ka olua keiki, o ka olua mau keiki wale iho la ia a hiki i ko olua hopena."

Kanikau no Kaluaikaawaloa.

 

Aloha nui oe e Kaluaikaawaloa,

Kuu kaikamahine mai ka makani wehe kapa o ka aina,

E wehe ana i ka pili a maua kaawale oe-e,

I piliia e kaua ka ua me ka la, ke anu me ke koekoe,

Ka makani anu o ka hoolua,

Elua mea a loko e hana nei,

O ka u me ka minamina,

E hoomaeele wale nei no i kuu kino,

Ke anu o ka ua kiowao,

E-Aloha-e.

Aloha ke kaunoa luhiehu i ka la e,

Akahi hoi la a ke aloha i hiki mai ai,

Ke haku kaikoo nei loko o'u i ka minamina,

O kuu pua mae ole oe he keiki,

Aloha kuu keiki mai na pali o Hilo,

E loku mai ana ka ua i ke oho o ka ohia,

A kaua e au ai ia wai anu a ka malua,

Elua kaua i na ale kauloloa o Alenuihaha,
