Me he makamaka ala ke aloha ke hiki mai.

Hoopilikia hoi i kuu nui kino, aloha wale.

Hele aku nei oe i ke ala hoi ole mai,

Kou mau makua ke noho pilikia nei,

            HE MAU KAMANA LAUA NO IA wahi, a he mau mea waiwai loa no hoi, no ka mea, he mau kanaka powa nae laua: a na laua na hipa ainena kao ame na mea e ae he nui wale.

            O Kimo ke kaikaina, o Iosepa ke kaikuaana, na ka makua hookahi laua ma ka hanau ana.

            I ka wa ahiahi molehulehu, komo ae la na hipa iloko o ka pa, o na kao hoi i ko lakou pa; ma keia komo ana, o Ana Onohi Gula kekahi i komo iloko o ua pa hipa nei.

            I kona komo ana iloko, ua hu loa na hipa me ka holoholo ma o a maanei iloko o ka pa, a no keia hu ana o ka hipa, ua lohe o Kimo ame Iosepa na kahu.

            Nolaila, haohao loa laua i keia ahiahi no ka hu ana o na hipa, nolaila, olelo aku la o Kimo ia Iosepa, "Ea!  e hele ae oe e nana i ka pa, heaha la ke kumu o keia hu ana o ka hipa a kaua?"

            Hele aku la o Iosepa e nana i ka pa o na hipa, ia ia i hiki aku ai, nana aku la oia i keia mea ula wena iwaena o na hipa, a nalu iho la iloko ona, "Eia ka ka mea i hu ai ka hipa, kai no he mea e ae, eia ka hoi he kanaka ko loko o ka pa."

            Ia Ana Onohi Gula i nalowale ai ma kahi mua i ikeia ʻ i e ua luahine nei, ua imi ikaika loa oia ma na wahi a pau loa, aohe nae he loaa iki o Ana Onohi Gula, nolaila, hoomau loa ua luahine la i ka imi ana.

            Ma keia huli ana, ua loaa o Ana Onohi Gula ma keia aoao o ka mauna, a hiki ua luahine la, nana aku la oia i ka noho mai o Ana Onohi Gula iluna o ka hale, a nonoi aku la oia ma ka olelo maikai loa.

            "E kela wahine maikai loa,

            Ka mea aole malalo iho o ka la,

            O ka mahina, o na hoku,

            Na ʻ u kekahi mea ai."

            "Pii mai," wahi a Ana Onohi Gula, pii aku la ua luahine la a hiki iluna, olelo mai la o Ana Onohi Gula, "O oe no ka mea lima, lalau mai i ke ki eia malalo o ʻ u e waiho nei, ki aku i ka rumi waiho mea ai,"

            A hiki ua luahine malalo o ka hale noho o ke kaikamahine alii, a noi aku la me ka leo nui.

            "E kela wahine maikai loa,

            Ka mea aole malalo o ka la.

            O ka mahina, o na hoku,

            Na ʻ u kekahi mea ai."

            Olelo mai ke kaikamahine Alii, "U! e ka luahine, heaha ke kumu e loaa aku ai ka makou ai ia oe?  Aole no hoi oe i noi i kekahi noi ana a e loaa ana, hele hou mai la hoi e noi mea ai, kupanaha!

            A lohe ke kaikamahine Alii i keia mau olele a ua luahine nei, olelo iho la ia penei, "kupanaha!  kainoa ua make ua enemi nei o ʻ u, aole ka ! make oe ia ʻ u."

 

KA LOKOINO ALOHA OLE O KA LUAHINE, I KA MEA HEMOLELE KINA OLE, OIA HOI O ANA ONOHI GULA.

            Kahea mai ke kaikamahine Alii, nele mai, a hiki ua luahine nei imua o ke kaikamahine Alii, ninau mai ke kaikamahine Alii, "Ke ola mai la no anei o Ana Onohi Gula?"  "Ae," wahi a ka luahine.

            Ninau hou mai la ke kaikamahine Alii, "Pehea la i maopopo ai ia oe e ola ana?"  Wahi a ka luahine, eono mahine i hala ae nei o kuu huli ana maanei, aole loaa, alaila, huli au ma kela aoao o ke kuahiwi, malaila loaa ia ʻ u o Ana Onohi Gula, e noho ana iluna o na hale he umikumamalua.

            I mai ke kaikamahine Alii, "Ae, heaha la hoi, e hoi hou oe i kahi au i ike ai ia Ana Onohi Gula, a hana aku oe i keia mau mea make."  "Ae," pela aku ka luahine.

            A make o Ana Onohi Gula, hoi aku la ua luahine nei ma ke alanui ana i hele mai ai.  a hiki oia imua o ke kaikamahine Alii.

            Ninau mai la ke kaikamahine Alii, "pehea?"  Pane aku la ka luahine, "Ua make mai nei ia ʻ u, haalele aku nei au e waiho ana ua make, a hoi mai nei au.

            A lohe ke kaikamahine Alii, olioli loa iho loa iho la ia, no ka make ana o kona enemi, alaila, haawi mai la ia i hookahi tausani dala i ka luahine, a hoi aku la no hoi ua luahine nei me ka olioli i kona hale.

KA HOI ANA O KIMO A ME IOSEPA I KA HALE, KA MAKE ANA O ANA ONOHI GULA.

            A hoomaka kakou e olelo maanei, alaila, e hoomoe loa ka olelo no ka luahine, a e kali iki hoi kakou no ke kaikamahine Alii a mahope aku.  [Maanei kakou e olelo ai no Kimo a me Iosepa.]

            Lalau iho la laua, a hoonioni, aohe ala ae.  aohe nana, aohe no hoi he leo i pane mai, ia wa, uwe iho la laua me ke kanikau, no ke aloha a me ka minamina loa ia Ana Onohi Gula.

            A pau ko laua uwe kanikau ana, olelo aku o Kimo ia Iosepa, "Eia ka he oiaio kau olelo, hoole ana wau," (oia kela olelo i hai mua ia.)

            Alaila, olelo aku la o Kimo ia Iosepa, e kapai kaua i pahu no ko kaua kaikuahine, a lawe aku ma kekahi kuahiwi lipolipom i kahikoia i na lau nahelehele o kela ano keia ano, a malaila e waiho ai, malama o loaa i kekahi mea e pili ana i ka ohana Moi o Pelekane nei.

            Kapili iho la laua i ka pahu, he momi maloko, he daimana aku, he gula aku, a he koa mawaho loa, i uhiia i ke gula melemele, me ka wai ala e ae ana, (oia hoi eha pahu) maikai no ka hana ana.

            Papani iho la laua a paa ka waha o ka pahu, a ma ia hope iho, auamo laua i ka pahu a malalo o ke kumu o ke kuahiwi, kahi e luhe ana o na lau lipolipo o ka nahele, kahi hoi e muimuiia ana e ke ala a me ke onaona, kahi hoi i nui na waihooluu ke nana aku.

            Kuu ih la laua i ka pahu, a wehe aku la i ka lau o ka Awapuhi, a me ka Palai, a papale ae la i ka Maile, a waiho iho la laua i ka pahu malala, a hoi aku la laua i ko laua hale, me ka naau minamina.
