Kanikau aloha no Kina.

 Ma ka Poaono, oia ka la 7 o Mei, make o Kina, o kona mai i make ai, he kani ma ka umauma.  A o ka nui o na makahiki o ko maua noho pu ana ma ka maluhia o ke Kanawai mare o ka aina he 10, a me na malama keu 4, a me na la i oleloia maluna, a o kona la no ia i haalele mai ai ia'u, i ka hoa pilihe kane.  A ua haku iho wau i wahi Kanikau nona. Eia malalo nei, a penei no ia:

Oleo pane ia Makanahelehele

O PUNA, HAWAII.

  E KA HIWAHIA KAULANA O HAWAII NEI; Aloha iini kaua:--Maluna paha au o kou waa wiliwili e ee pakeke aku ai, kahi hoi e awala lua nei na hoewaa me ka ikkaika o na lala iluna o na ale o Kaieiewaho, me kou nakui nae a pili aku i Ainahou, welo kihei a ke Aeloa i ka hale pukaaniani nui o ka ike,

  Aia ka'u wahi umeke maloko o kou hale ahaaina naauao ; o ka Buke II, Helu 41, Oct. la 10, 1863. "He kanaka akamai o J. P. Kuwalu"--Oia ko'u alanui e hehi haaheo aku ai ma ka meheu o ko iala hapa pulima.  Oiai, ua ukali loihi au ma ka waha o ka pepa, aole he wahi mea a ekemu iki o J. P. K--ia C. M--oiai, ke lawe nei no au ia pepa hoomanao; a ma ia manao hoi e hoouna aku ai au i ka Alabama ka olali  pakelo o ka Hema, e pulumi aku i na olelo kalakala a C.   Ninau. 1. Heaha kekahi mau hua palapala elua ke huiia laua, ua like me kekahi mea e pono ai ke kanaka hoe waa?
