Jubilee in Wailuku.

Mr. Editor :—Our hearts were gladdened by the news of the recent Union victories and the surrender by General Lee of the Army of Virgnia. And on the receipt of the news on Wednesday, the 3d inst., it was proposed by some " wide awake" Americans that we should have an impromptu celebration. Accordingly the fabric for a large American flag; was purchased about noon, and before sundown was completed by the combined efforts of the American ladies of our village. In the meantime brave men, assisted by the " Wizard of the East," prepared cartridges for one hundred guns. At nightfall the village was illuminated by bonfires, and lamps hanging across the street, and amidst the clangor of fire crackers, the roar of cannon (anvils). the ring of martial music, and the stentorian voices of the Glee Club singing "Rally around the flag, boys," the good old Stars and Stripes ' rose to the top of its staff and floated majestically in the breeze as in days of old.

The celebration was attended by at least five hundred persons, including natives, who entered into the festivities with a will and zeal that would or should have smitten the conscience of a copperhead with shame, if they are not already entirely devoid of that precious article. Patriotic speeches and songs followed eaeh other in quick succession until the small hours of morning; and when the assemblage broke up with three times three cheers for speedy cessation of the effusion of blood, and the restoration of peace, it was acceded by all, that Wailuku is loyal almost to a fault, and that even the ladies (God bless them) are all in favor of the Union—to a man.
