             Mr. Clark, Controller of the Currency, who has his office directly from the Senate, and is not dependent on Secretary McCulloch, has written a letter to the Secretary, charging him with gross misstatements of accounts in his monthly public exhibits.             There is a rumor that Russell has asked the Queen to relieve him from the Cabinet.

            Over 200 Quakers are emigrating from North Carolina to Indiana, to escape persecution.

            McCormick, of Arizona, has been appointed Governor of Idaho Territory.

            The Loan Bill has been defeated in Congress; a triumph of Clark over McCulloch.

            Parson Brownlow has come out strongly against the President's reconstruction policy.

            Pennsylvania Republicans have nominated John W. Geary as their candidate for Governor.

            In a speech to a Kentucky delegation, the President stated that he had taken a stand and would not budget.

            There is a great Fenian scare in Canada. Thirty thousand volunteers have been enrolled.

            Gen. Morton's health is still in a critical condition.
