At last the popular voice has beg@n @@ @@@@

and native born. that @@@ present bonded @@

@@ system in town. from root to branch.

The longer @@@@ op@ion @@@@@@@. the

stronger it grew. The Planters with few

@@@@@@ and their @@@@ Sate@@nes.

have per@@@@ in closing their eyes to the actual state of affairs.

and in endeavoring to

make others believe that their views were

@@@@@ by the great ma@@@ of the @@@-

@@@@ of taese islands. and that those who

were bold enough to advocate the opposite

@@@ were only a few factious disturber who

did not represent any considerable portion of

the public sentiment.

 

But the large. @@@@@, and united

public meeting which have @@@@ been held

@@@@ town, have most emphat@iraily dispelled

all @@@ We should have said

past has @@@@ us that on the part of our

It is an insult to the intelligence and

common same. both of the foreign and na-

tie community, for any one  to say, as has

all these meetings, In the discussion of our

labor system at these islands, the conduct

and arg@ments of the Planter-ministerial

party have been similar in kind if not quite

in degree to that of the Bully-Brookses in

Congress, and the Southern Slaveholders of

the United States generally. during the palmy

days of the "peculiar mistitution."

The spirit is the same, though somewhat

modified by circumstance.

The arguments used are the same. In

 what then does the @@@ of our coolie system

on the Planters  themselves, and the Ministry,

differ from the @@@@ of the Slavery System

on its promoters and advocates in United

States in former years? The tree is known

by its fruit: and the fruit being the same,

the root is the same. There may be a little

difference in the size of the tree, and in the

form. size and potion of the branches, but

THE FRUIT IS THE SAME.

That, of itself, is in our minds sufficient

proof. if there were no other, that we are justi-

tied in saying that our coolie system of labor is

" contrary to the spirit  of the age," the spirit

of freedom and equal rights : and it must go

down before the match of events. If so, then

the sooner the Planters and all concerned

recognize the fact. and voluntarily prepare.

the way , the better. For this question con-

crease not the Planters and the Ministry alone,

not even @@@@. It concerns every citizen

of these islands equally, as a man and a free-

man.
