Ke Kaikamahine a ke Kaua ka Mahiai

                “Aohe o’u makemake i ka hoolohe ana aku i kela huaolelo, e kuu aloha.  Pehea la e hiki ai ia oe ke hoopai ino aku? “  ia manawa i oaka mai ai kekahi malamalama maluna o kona helehelena.

 

                “Aole au i ike.  Ua loaa la’u kekahi i ke maopopo ana iloko o ko’u naau, a me he mea’la ela oia ke wanana mai nei ia’u no ke ano o ke au o ka manawa e hoea mai ana.  A la’u e ku nei maanei nei, ke ike nei au, e hiki mai ana ka manawa a ko makuahine e uwe mai ai la’u me ka awahiu=a elike me ko’u uwe ana’ku iaia, a e kaulike ana nohoi ka waiwai ole elike me ko’u.”

                “Ae ua ike au,” wahi a Leone i hawanawana mai ai.

                “O, kuu aoh e kuu aloha!”  i uhu iho ai ke kaikamahine, ua oi aku kuu hauoli ina nohoi Iune keia manawa.”

 

                Ia manawa ka Haku Sanadoa i kulou iho ai ilalo a honi ia i ka wahine e hoonele ia ana i ka poli e pumehana ai no kekahi mau mahina loihi.

 

                “E hiki mai ana no ka mahnawa e hui hou ai kaua “ wahi a ka Haku Sanadoa i olelo aku ai; e ne mai ia’u e hoopau pono aku i ke kii a kaua i hoonohonoho mua iho nei.  E lawe pu ana au me a’u i palapala-mare ku i ka wa, i hiki ai ia kaua ke mare hou i kela la, a ia manawa ko ke ao nei e ike ai owai la ka Lede Sanadoa.  Alaila, ia manawa kuu lede makuahine e imi mai aieia oe, ka mea hoi i imi aku iaia, ia manawa oia e noi mai ai no ka ike ana ia oe, e kuu hiwahiwa o na kau a kau, a o keia mau mea ino a pau o ka wa i haia, e lilo ia i mau moeuhane ia kakou a e hoopoina loa hoi ia mau mea apau.  E Leone, i ka manawa o na manao kauimaha e hiki mai i o’u’la, e ae mai oe  e hoopaa i kau olelo hoopaa me a’u, oia hoi, e noho ana oe ma keia aoao o ke kii, ka aoao hoi o ka manaolana a e hoopoina hoi i kekahi aoao ae.”

 

                “Ke haawi aku nei au i ka’u olelo hoopaa, e kuu Lance aloha, “  wahi a Leone i olelo mai ai, me ka oluolu.

 

                “Ua ike oe, e kuu aloha—ka mea hoi a’u e kapa koke aku ai mao ka nani ia o ka wahine—ua ike oe o kou oia, aole ia e moe ana iloko o ka poino e hoopuni ana ia oe, o ka mea like ole wale no, oia keia, o ko’u @aawale ana’ku ma kahi e,”  A la iho la no ka mea nana e hana hoano e i ka honua hoolookoa la’u wahi a Leone i olelo aku ai.

                “Ua oi aku nohoi ka paakiki oia mea, wahi a Leone i olelo aku ai, aka ua lawe aku oe i ka mea i oi ae mai ia’u aku i kahi e.  O, e kuu aloha, e mau ana anei kou oiaio la’u?  He wahi kaikamahine wale iho no au no kahi kulanakauhale kuaaina, he nele ma na ano apau, aka, ua aloha la oe—ua aloha au ia oe.  E oiaio ana anei oe la’u?”

 

                “E kuu Leone i aloha nui ia, ua hiki no ia oe ke ninau ae ina paha e oiaio ka la ame na kohu i ka lani, a i oi@ ia o ka lani no iaia iho, elike me @ i nanau mai nei la’u ina au e oia@ ana ia oe.  O @ hoi ka uhane o kuu uhane—aole loa e kumakaia ana kekahi kanaka i kona uhane!  Ua oi aku ka maalahi ina u e make ana mamua o kuu wahahee ana ia oe e kuu aloha.”

 

                Na keia mau huaolelo a ka Haku Sanadoa i olelo aku ai a hoike mai ia hoi kona @ i kekahi manaiana @ kau mai ana maluna @

                Lan@  wahi a Leone i olelo aku ai ke h@ manao nei no anei @ i ka makini hulia, a me ke ano o ka ho!hana ana o ka wai @ himeni mai ana i na hu@  o ke mele”?

 

                “Au, k@ h@manao nei au no la mea aka, aole loa @ hiki mai ana ia mau mea me ka oiaio maluna o kaua, e Leone aole loa.  Aole @oa au @ uha’i ana i ka’u mau olelo hoohiki, a peia nohoi oe i kau.”

 

                “Aole oia nae pehea no la hoi ka wai e himeni mau mai ai i na wa a pau.

 

                “Ua hoopoina loa ia na olelo hoohiki.

 

                Ua haki iho ia ke komo-lima a kaawale:

 

                Ua khiki loa ia’u ke lohe aku ia mea i keia manawa e Lance.  Me he mea la la’u eia no ka makane ke olelo hou mai nei ia mea.”

 

                He manao ulu wale ae no kena ou, e kuu aloha,”  wahi a ka Haku Sanakoa i olelo mai ai.

 

                Aka ua hoomau aku ia no o Leone i kana kamailio ana:

 

                “E aho e huna mai kaluakupapau ia’u.

 

                No ka mea malaila wale no e loaa ai ka maha.

 

                “Aole, e loaa mau ana ia kaua ka maha iloko o keia oia ana,”  wahi a ka Haku Sanadoa i olelo mai ai.

 

                Ia manawa o Leone i kau aku ai i kona lima maluna o na lima o kana kane “Lance,” wahi ana i olelo aku ai, “he moeuhane weliweli loa ka’u o ka po nei.  Aole i hiki iki ia’u ke hiamoe no na hora he lehulehu.  I ka manawa hope a kuu mau maka i upoi iho ai, ua ike aku ia au ia’u iho i kahi o ka halewilikahawai kahiko.  Ua manao au, ua hookikina ia au e hele ilaila mamuli o kekahi eha nui i loohia ia’u a i oi ae hoi kona ikaika mamau o ka mea hiki ia’u ke hoomanawanui, a ua lele aku la au iloko o ke kahawai.

                “Aole,”  wahi a ka Haku Sanadoa i pane mai ai, aka ua ano haikea loa mai la kona helehelena, a ua moe iho la na aka koikoi o ke kaumaha iloko o kona mau maka.

 

                Ua hapai hou ae la o Leone i kona helehelena iluna a nana hou mai la i kana mea i aloha ai.

 

                “Lance,” wahi ana i olelo aku ai, me ka oluolu, ua manao anei oe aia kekahi mea ola—kekahi mea e ae paha i oi aku kona aloha ana i kekahi, elike ka pololei, me ko’u aloha ana ia oe?  E ano kahaha mau ana nohoi au no ia mea.  Ua ike au i na wahine e hauoli ana, a e oluolu ana, a ke haohao nei au. Ina paha no namino aka a ka lakou mau kane i haawi aku ai, oi ko lakou mea i hauole ai, elike me kou hoohauoli ana mai ia’u.”

 

                “Aole au i manao, aia he mau kanaka lehulehu kupono no ke aloha ana elike me kau i hana mai ia’u, e Leone,”  wahi a ka Haku Sanadoa i pane mai ai, a nolaila i keia manawa, e kuu aloha e pono a e haalele ia oe.  E Leone, e hoohala i kou manawa apau iloko o ka imi ana i ka naauao.  He mau mahina pokole nohoi koe e hooikaika ai iloko o k hana, elike me na mahina ekolu i kaa hope ae, a o ka manawa ia e makaukau ai o kuu wahine ui me na mea naauao apau elike me kona hiehie.  O ka hooikaika ana i ka naauao oia ka mea nana e koku nui ia oe i ka hoohala ana ae i kahi manawa.”

 

                “E hana ana au i na mea apau au e olelo mai ai ia’u e hana, e Lance.  E ae mai oe la’u e kakau aku ia oe i nala a pau, a e pono nohoi oe e kakau pinepine mai ia’u”

 

                “E hana ana au elike me ia, e kuu ona ona; aka mai noho oe a pihoihoi ina aole e loaa pinepine mai ana ka’u poe leta ia oe elike hoi me kau, no ka mea, aohe paa mau o ka manawa lawe leta o na aina e like me ko kakou nei; a na makou e kaahele ana ia Kelemania, aole loa paha e loaa ana la’u he manawa e kakau mai ai.”

               

                “E hilinai aku ana au ia oe,”  wahi a kekahi leo aloha i olelo aku ai.  “Ua maopopo loa ia’u, aole oe e hoopoina ana ia’u.”

 

                Ua like kona hookano elike me kekahi emepera wahine, iaia ka uhane kiekie o kekahi moiwahine, aka i keia manawa, ua hiki mai ka manawa e hookaawale ia ae ai, a ua hoohaule iho la ia mau mea iaia.  Ua puliki aku la oia i kana kane me na waimaka e hoohanini iho ana maluna o kona mau papaline—he mea hiki ole nohoi ke aloha, ke uumi iho, no ka mea ua nui kona aloha iaia. Ua hoopulu aku la kona waimaka i ka helehelena o kana mea i aloha ai, aole hoi i hiki iaia ke hoopuka aku i hookahi huaolelo no ka mea euwe ana no oia.  Aole loa ia i ike i kekahi hora o ke kaumaha ame kaluuluu elike me keia manawa hope a ke kane ame ka wahine e hui pu nei.  Ua honi aku la oia i kana kane me ka ikaika o ke aloha a pau i loaa iaia.

 

                “Aloha oe, e kuu aloha,”  wahi a Leone i olelo aku ai.  O, e Lance, mai hoopoina oe ia’u –o kuu oia ana aia ia iloko ou kahi i moe ai.”

 

                “Ina au e hoao ana e hoopunipuni ia oe, e kuu aloha, e ae aku i ka Lani e wahahee ia’u, wahi a ka Haku Sanadoa i olelo mai ai, “Leone, e haawi mai la’u i hookahi mino aka, aole loa e hiki ia’u ke haalele ia oe a hiki i kuu ike ana’ku ia mea.”

 

                Ua hoao mai la oia.  Ua honi mai la oia i na apaplina o kana wahine ame na make i hoopuluia i k waimaka.”

 

                “Aloha oe e kuu mea i aloha ai.”  wahi a ka Haku Sanadoa i olelo mai ai.  “E hoomanao i ka la kanakolu o Iune, a e hoihoi pu mai ana au me a’u i lei—rose no kaua.”

 

                A ia manawa ua hala aku la oia.
