OHA AWARDS ʻILIʻILI GRANTS

The closing date for receiving applications for OHA's 'lli'Ili Grant Program was August 14, 1981. Response to the program was excellent. OHA received a total of 146 applications by the deadline. The program is designed to provide grants of up to $1,000 to Native Hawaiians and organizations providing services whieh benefit Native Hawaiians. The grants will be used to support short-term projects. A total of $50,000 is available under the program, with $10,000 being allocated to eaeh of the five program areas. Of the 146 applications received there were 35 individual requests for scholarship assistance and another 17 requests for other educational projects. In addition, 32 applications were received for eeonomie development activities, 22 for cultural projects, 22 for projects in the area of health and human resources, and 18for activities in the land and natural resources program area.
