NOVEMBER 2nd IS THE OHA ELECTION

Elelction Article The 1982 Office of Hawaiian Affairs Election will be held with the General Election on T uesday, Novemberr 2, 1982. The polls will be open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. OHA voters statewide will vote to elect seven Trustees. Five of the seats are four-year terms, and two are for two years, to fill the terms of Trustees who have resigned. Three of the seven positions are for "residency seats," whieh require that the numbers live on a particular island, one seat eaeh for Hawai'i, Maui and O'ahu. The remaining four are "non-residency seats" or "at large", candidates for whieh may reside on any island. The Trustees are elected "at-large." Registered OHA voters on all islands may vote for a total of not more than seven, one candidate for eaeh of the residency or nonresidency seats.

The Office of Hawaiian A ffairs Ballot On Election Day, The OHA voter, whether voting in the regular General Election or not, will be issued the OH A ballot and will sign the OHA poll book at a special OHA station. The ballot is designed so that every voter has the opportunity to vote for candidates for all the residency and the non-resideney seats. Candidates for residency seats will be listed alphabetically by island, and candidates for non-residency seats will be listed alphabetically in a separate category. Eaeh voter may vote for not more than seven candidates; four nonresidency, and one residency seats for Maui, O'ahu and Hawai'i. One of the non-residency seats and the Hawai'i residency seat are for two-year, unexpired terms. The other five seats are for four year terms. Absentee Voting An OHA registered voter may vote before theelection, from Saturday, October 23 to Monday, November 1, at the Absentee Polling Plaee at the County Clerk's office. The polling plaee is open during business hours on weekdays and from 8:00 am to 12 noon on Saturdays. To vote by mail absentee ballot, a registered voter must submit a written request to the Clerk's office at least seven days before the election. The request should include the following information: name and address as registered date of birth and social security number (OHA and regular) address to whieh ballots are to be mailed signature. Absentee ballots must be retuned to the Clerk by the closing of the polls at 6:00- pm on elected day.
