A MAKAHIKI ON MOLOKAʻI

"Ka Moloka'i Makahiki" was a "complete success." This has been the second year for Moloka'i. and the appreciation for these Hawaiian games has increased substantial!y, especially among the participants. Besides the games. there was an impressive opening ceremony whieh presented the traditional white Makahiki banner as well as fourdistrict banners for Moloka'i. There \\ere participants representing the lour districts of Kaluakoi. Hoolehua. Kaunakaki and Mana'e. whieh totaled about fifty people. The Makahiki also featured six hours ol musical entertainment. s!ide shows and Hawaiian arts and crafts. As there was so mueh food donated a free luneh was given to all involved. lt was a da\ ol getting together for enjoyment and lun. even during these difticult times. but it is good for us to know that we ean still relv on one another. There is already talk going on about the planning ol next year's "Ka Moloka'i Makahiki"and of a State-wide one. A great mahalo to Moloka'i for vou \villingness to help and participate.
