Keppeler Elected Council President

Honolulu Attorney Bruss Keppeler is the new president of the Oahu District Council of Hawaiian Civic Clubs. He was elected at a pre-convention caucus Oct. 6 at the Ala Moana Ameneana Hotel. Keppeler succeeds Elaine Mullaney.

Other election results were: Walter V. Rodenhurst 111, Ahahui Kaiulani, first vice president; Lila Medeiros, Queen Emma, second vice president; Gladys Rodenhurst, Ahahui Kaiulani, recording secretary; Ethelreda Kahalewai, Puuloa, treasurer. Elected to the Council Board of Directors were Bea Rosa, Pearl Harbor; Louise Kong, Waianae; Peter

Ching, Kailua; Lorraine Freitas, Queen Emma. Those from the eouneil who will serve on the Association Board of Directors are Roy Benham, Pnnee Kuhio; Henry Kaapana, King Kamehameha; Sis Widemann, Honolulu.

Two hundred members of Hawaiian Civic Clubs on Oahu were honored for the Helen C. Kane Award for outstanding service within their respective clubs. Puuloa and Waikiki were named the outstanding clubs on Oahu. Abraham Piianaia, director of the University of Hawaii Hawaiian Studies program, was guest speaker. He also installed the newly-elected officers.
