New Hawaii Books in Stores

Two books dealing with Hawaii and recently published by Bess Press of Honolulu are now available through loeal booksellers. "Modern Hawaiian History," whieh chronicles the history of Hawaii's last century, fulfills the speciFic needs articulated by Hawaii's high school social studies teachers. "The Hawaii Puzzle Book is a collection of puzzles and brain teasers put together in an attractively designed and easy-to-use format. It provides a fun way to leam about the Aloha State.

Dr. Ann Rayson, an assistant professor at the University of Hawaii, compiled, edited, designed and wrote mueh of the text in cooperation with other well-known authors and sources. The puzzle book was writen and illustrated by Donna Lugg Pape, Virginia Mueller and Carol Karle who have completed regional puzzle books for eight other states. The authors plan to write books for all 50 states. Bess Press is a loeal publisher of Hawaiian history and cultural materials.
