Yim Retires; Search on for New Administrator

T.C. Yim, Administrator of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs since May, 1982, will retire as a public official on May 15, 1985, three years from the date he was appointed to OHA's top administrative position. Yim, a veteran State legislator, served four consecutive terms in the House and headed the powerful Eeonomie Development Committee in the Senate. Although his retirement does not become effective until

May 15, Yim will be on vacation through the date of his retirement. However, he will continue to monitor and be available for consultation on proposed legislation of eoneem to the Hawaiian people throughout the current legislative session. Administrative duties of OHA are being handled by Assistant Administrator Ben Henderson who assumes the title of Acting Administrator.

The Board of Trustees will appoint a permanent administrator prior to Yim's May 15 retirement date. Henderson, a graduate of The Kamehameha Schools and Arizona State University, is a former administrator and planner for the City and Councy of Honolulu's Office of Human Resources. He became Planning and Development Officer at OHA in 1981 and was appointed Assistant Administrator in January, 1983. (photos, Page 3)
