Kamehameha Concert Glee Club to Europe

The Kamehameha Schools Concert Glee Club has scheduled a 35-day mainland and Europe tour, departing June 15 and returning July 20. Mainland appearances are slated for June 18 in Washington, D.C., in San Francisco July 18 and at Marriot's Great America theme park in San Jose July 19.

The group will be arriving in Frankfurt, West Germany, June 20 and will give its first European performance the next day at Rudesheim. Other performances are: June 23— Schloss Castle, Heidelberg. June 28 — Performances in 175-year-old church in Lueeme and at Kurpark City Pavilion. June 30 — Prater Park, Vienna, Austria. July 1 — St. Charles Cathedral, Vienna. July 2 — Rathaus Park (City Hall) open air stage, Vienna.

July 5 — Cathedral of the Dome (performance to be part of the Mass), Salzburg. July 6 — Strasbourg, France. July 8, 9, 10, 11 — Llangollen International Eisteddfod Festival, Wales, England. July 15 — Thorpe Theme Park, London. July 16 — Depart Gatwick International Airport for San Francisco via Minneapolis.

A party of approximately 80, including some parents, chaperone and chorale director Dale Noble, make up the traveling complement. Coco's Travel Ltd. of Kailua is in charge of all arrangements.

The Kamehameha Schools band was scheduled to make a European tour the past summer but the trip was called off because of the hostage crisis situation. A portion of the funds for the glee club trip was obtained through various fund raisers, including the annual Christmas tree sales and Christmas concerts. Adults accompanying the students are paying $2,539 per person based on double occupancy.
