Nanakuli Youngster is Miss Pre-Teen Hawaiʻi

An ll-year-old Nanakuli homestead product, who will be entering the seventh grade at Nanakuli Intermediate School in the fall, will represent Hawai'i in the National Pre-Teen Modern Miss competition Apr. 28, 1989, in Nassau, Bahama Islands. Nalani Malia Estrella Aipoalani is the second oldest of three girls and a boy. They are the ehildren of Henry and Merrie Aipoalani of Nanakuli. Her father works as a tireman for Transportation Dynamics while her mother is administrative assistant to Councilman John DeSoto. Nalani was named Hawai'i winner of the contest by the nahonal committee of Pre-Teen Modern Miss. She was selected on the basis of academics, community and volunteer services cind school activities. She !s patrol leader of Troop 279, Girl Scouts of America and served as vice president of her sixth grade class. Nalani also was a lieutenant in the Junior Poliee Officers (JPO) organization, is a hula dancer, sings in the school chorus, plays the ukulele and was a cheerleader for the Waianae Tigers Pop Warner football team.
