Tower display of feather lei

Queen Emma Tower 9 is a medical/surgical pediatric floor completed in Nov. 1989 following the Queen's Medical Center master palette plan. Artwork and decor selected for Tower 9 feature an Hawaiian royalty theme with specially commissioned pieces. Feather artist and instructor Mary Louise Kekuewa and her daughter Paulette Kahalepuna were commissioned by Joanna Burke of Venice, Calif., to create four lei hulu (feather lei) as a permanent display in Tower 9. Niki Fuller's oil paintings, done from photographs of the royal family, are on exhibit. Photographs of the royal family as children are included in the display.
