Twenty-nine candidates filed their nominahon papers by the Sept. 17 deadline for the five open Office of Hawaiian Affairs Trustee seats, according to information from the office of state Lieutenant Governor Ben Cayetano. The OHA eleehon will be held on Nov. 6, general election day. OHA registered voters will receive a special OHA ballot at the polling plaee. Deadline to register in the general election and OHA election is Oct. 8. Eighteen candidates are running for three at-large OHA seats. No specific island residency is required. Incumbents Rod Burgess and A. Frenchy DeSoto are running for re-election Incumbent Kevin "Chubby" Mahoe will not be seeking reeleehon. Also seeking at-large seats are:

Rowena N. Akana. Linda Dela Cruz, Bob Freitas, Kaipolani Kahaialii-Kaopio, Radine K. Kamakea, Kamaki A. .Kanahele, Abraham Kapana, Velma P. Kekipi, Arthur F. Kepoo, James K. Manaku, Sam M. Peters. Jr.. Wilson Peters, Herbert N Pratt. Dennis Salias, Dawn Wasson and Edwma A.L. Wong. Four candidates are seeking the island of Maui trustee seat (1 position): Abe Aiona, incumbent Manu Kahaialii, Clinton K. Makekau, and Charles K. Maxwell. Seven candidates are seeking the island of O'ahu seat: incumbent Clarence F.T. Ching, Clayton Hee, Josiah L. Ho'ohuli, Lela M. Hubbard, Enoeh N. Kaina, R. Kunani Nihipali, and Chades Y. Tanouye, Jr.
