Film features artists

Hawaii Craftsmen will first show the new documentary film, "Legacy of Excellence," featuring island artists at work, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Honolulu Academy of Arts Garden Cafe. The film will also be shown in Hilo, and on Maui, Moloka'i, Lana'i, Kaua'i, and elsewhere on O'ahu. Preceding the hour-long film, artists Elizabeth Maluihi Lee, Patrick Horimoto, Bruce Chrisman, Puanani Van Dorpe, Le Van Keola Sequeira, Dennis Kana'e Keawe, Roselle Bailey and Rocky Ka'iouliokahikikolu'ehu Jensen will discuss their works whieh will also be displayed. The film, whieh was produced by Elaine Zinn and Richard J. Tibbetts Jr., who also directed, wrote and edited the pieee, will be shown and then discussed at 7:30 p.m. preceded by "a meet the artists" session at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the UHHilo Campus Center, room 306; Sept. 28 at Kona Outdoor Circle Education CenterThe film will be broadcast at 9 p.m. Sept. 24 and 8 p.m. Sept. 29 on Hawaii Public Television, KHET-TV.
