Visual artists sought

The Hawai'i Steering Committee for Hawai'i representation at the Sixth Festival of Pacific Arts 1992 announces the opening of applications for the selection of 5 to 10 visual artists to participate in the festival. The festival will take plaee in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, during the week of Oct. 16 through 27. The annual event brings together performing and visual artists from Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia. The chosen theme is "Seafaring Pacific Islanders." Participants will display, demonstrate, share and learn from eaeh other's unique seafaring heritage including eanoe sailing, voyaging and other traditions. Applications for visual arts will be distributed by the Native Hawaiian Culturē and Arts Program beginning Jan. 7, 1992.
