KS students win at district science fair

Kamehameha Schools students took home top honors in the 4th Annual Hawai'i Association of Independent Schools District Science Fair, held recently in Honolulu. Anna Ishikawa won second plaee overall in the senior research division and first plaee in microbiology/botany. She will compete in the International Science Fair in Tennessee. She also received special awards from the American Society for Microbiology, National Aeronautics and Space Administration and first plaee from the Navy. Other first plaee winners in the senior research division were Janell Fernandez for chemistry/biochemistry and Natalie Relles for physics/engineering. Natalie also received speeial awards from Eastman Kodak Company and from the Junior Engineering Technical Society. Manly Kanoa took first plaee honors in the junior research division for biochemistry. District Science Fair winners will compete in the Hawai'i State Science and Engineering Fair in April.
