The Office of Hawaiian Health has released "An Addendum to the Licensing of Native Hawaiian Healing Practices," whieh provides additional information on the history of licensing procedures of traditional Native Hawaiian medicinal practitioners.

The paper focuses on the first legislation to license traditional practitioners in the Hawaiian kingdom in 1898. Author Maleolm Naea Chun ties the enactment of this legislation to the lobbying efforts of the Hawaiian organization, 'Ahahui La'au Lapa'au, and provides background on the implementation of the act.
