Diabetes conference set for May 19-21

Diabetes has heeome a serious problem for native peoples throughout North Amenea, the Pacific Basin, and Australia and is beginning to threaten people of all ages. Because of the severity of the problem, and the enormous cost of medical services, heahh care providers are constantly seeking innovative, culturally-sensitive approaches to treatment and prevention in an attempt to halt the spread of the disease.

These approaches will be the theme of the second annual International conference on Diabetes and Native Peoples to be held May 19-21, in Honolulu, at the Ala Moana Hotel. The conference will provide refresher courses for heahh care workers about the latest crosscultural innovations in the treatment of diabetes.
