Founder's Day honors Maiki Aiu

The annual Founder's Day eelebration, held by Hālau Hula O Maiki to honor founder Maiki Aiu Lake, will take plaee on Monday, May 31 at Kahikolu garden, St. Francis School in Mānoa, 2707 Pamoa Rd. from 1 1 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a fundraiser for Maiki Aiu Building Corporation to build a hula school to teach Hawaiian language, dance and culture. Entertainment will feature Robert Cazimero and Hālau Nā Kamalei, Leina'ala Kalama Heine and Nā Pualei O Likolehua, Ke Kapa Maile (Randy Ngum), Steve Ma'i'i and Friends, Simplisity, singer Tazhi,

Lei Hulu featuring Kimo Alama, Hālau Ha'aoni O Kekau'ilani, Manu Kahaiali'i and his 'ohana from Lahaina, and members of Hālau Hula O Maiki led by kumu hula Coline Aiu Ferranti. Tickets are $10 at the gate. Park at UH behind the Korean Center and walk up, or park in neighborhood (St. Francis parking is limited). For $20 people ean participate in the annual Hula Malie fun run (price includes Tshirt and admission.) There will be food, drinks, and lei for sale.
