Hawaiian leadership conference set for Oct. 14-15

"KQ Ka Lau Lama I Ke Kukui Ho'okahi, Many Torches Stand To Give One Light," is the theme for the seventh annual Hawaiian Leadership Conference being held Oct. 14-15 at the University of Hawai'i-Hilo. This year's challenge speaker is Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett, noted musician, educator and cultural specialist. Workshops will be present-

ed by Pualani Kanahele, John Lake, Haunani Apoliona, Mapuana and Kihei DeSilva, and Kema and Ke'ala Kanaka'ole, sons of the late Parley Kanaka'ole. An evening performance on Oct. 14 will feature poetry, music and storytelling. The conference is open to high school and college students, teachers, kūpuna, counselors, eommunity leaders, administrators
