Senate Bills S.B. 3012. Relating to Kaho'olawe. Creates a trust fund for receipt of federal funds designated by Congress for the rehabilitation of Kaho'olawe; appropriates funds for the operation of the Kaho'olawe Island Reserve Commission; and appropriates funds to complete negotiations on a memorandum of understanding with the United State Navy. S.B. 2758. Relating to native Hawaiian water rights. Requires Hawaiian home lands beneficiary applicants to be consulted on current future water reserves and development. S.B. 3068. Relating to subsis-

tence fishing. Designates native Hawaiian subsistence fishing areas and establishes administrative rules for purpose of reaffirming and protecting all rights, customarily and traditionally exercised for subsistence, eultural and religious purposes. S.B. 3145. Relating to 'Onipa'a Book. Making an appropriation for the purchase of 'Onipa'a: Five Days in the History of the Hawaiian Nation centennial book for public schools and libraries.

S.B. 2756. Relating to haku and ho'oponopono. Requires the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts to acknowledge, foster, and encourage the public on the benefits of the use of

ho'oponopono to resolve differences whenever practicable. S.B. 3301. Relating to religious grants, subsidies and purchase of service agreements. Amends provisions relating to conditions for grants. subsidies, and purchase of service agreements involving a native Hawaiian organization for the purpose of exercising subsistence, cultural, or religious rights as mandated in the Hawai'i Constitution. House BiIIs H.B. 3630. Relating to Hawaiian Sovereignty. Extends the Hawaiian Sovereignty Advisory Commission and authorizes it

to hire special counsel for legal services to carry out its duties. The commission is asked to provide to the 1995 Legislature its request for funding and other support in 1995, as well as a plan for conducting special elections to establish a process for Hawaiian sovereignty. H.B. 2780. Relating to the Office of Hawaiian Affairs Budget. Provides the neccessary appropriations and authorizations for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs Supplemental Budget. In order to maintain the level of progress OHA has made over the past years, supplemental funds are required. H.B. 2622. Relating to persons dispossessed by volcani-

ue eruptions. Gives DLNR authority to enter into long-term leases with the Hawaiians living in Kalapana who were displaced by voleanie eruptions.

H.B. 2625. Relating to game animals. Designates the pig as a valued game animal for subsistence purposes. Requires that the pig be managed in a manner that perpetuates the pig population. H.B. 3155. Relating to the policy of DHHL regarding the death of a lessee. Authorizes homestead lessees to designate, in addition to spouse and children, a grandchild who is at least 25 percent Hawaiian as a successor to the lease.
