His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be honored by Hawaiian organizations with a ho'okupu ceremony at 5 p.m. on Apiil 14 at 'Iolani Palaee, following his address to a special joint session of the state Legislature. The ceremony will be held at the ahu eonstructed of pōhaku from all the islands during last year's overthrow eommemoration. The Dalai Lama will participate in a symposium on "Loeal Identity in the Global Community: Creating World Peaee in the 2 1 st Century" April 15 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Hawai'i Prince Hotel. Attendance is by invitation only. The Dalai Lama will join with Pualani Kanahele, chanter and Hawaiian cultural expert, and Dr. Chanfra Muzzafar, a Muslim social activist from Malaysia, to share perspectives on global peaee in this age of changing international boundaries and increasing quests for self-determi-nation.

"Compassion for World Peaee" will be the topic of a morning talk at 8:30 on Apnl 16 at the Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall. The event is free and open to the public. Details on ticket distribution will be announced. The Dalai Lama will speak for about an hour, and will answer questions for a half an hour after that. There will also be a Tibetan ceremony including chanting by Tibetan spiritual masters. During an evening talk at 5:30 on Apnl 16 at the Waikīki Shell, the Dalai Lama will consider the question, "Is a Non-Violent Society Possible?"
