Haumana medical program seeks minority students

The Haumana Biomedical Program and the Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) Honors Program are recruiting full-time University of Hawai'iMānoa qndergraduate minority students interested in health-related fields. Both programs are intended to encourage minority students (i.e. Hawaiian, Filipino, Samoan and American Pacific Islanders) to do laboratory research under the guidance of UHMānoa faculty. These students will have the opportunity to present their findings at a scientific conferenee on the Mainland. The program starts on June 1. The students will work full-time during the summer and part-time dur-

ing the fall and spring semesters. The students in the Haumana Programs ean earn a salary of $6,000/year while MARC Honors scholars receive a $7,656 stipend plus resident tuition and fees are covered by the program.
