Kamuela hālau celebrates 10 years

Hālau Hula Ka No'eau, a Kamuelabased group, will perform, "Ten Years of Hawai'i Dance, Chants, and Traditions" May 18 at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea, Hawai'i. The hālau will perform two shows, one at 2 p.m, the other at 7 pm. Hālau Hula Ka No'eau opened its doors in in June 1986, teaching out of the Hawaiian Homes Hall on Thursday evenings. The first class consisted of 27

students, young adults and mothers from the North Hawai'i community. The goaI was to share the dances and chants of the kumu's teachers Ma'iki Aiu Lake and Kamāmalu Klein.
