September is "Women's Health Month"

September is "Women's Health Month" according to the Hawai'i State Commission on the Status of Women (HSCSW). This year's theme, "The Health of Womanhood," will spotlight: • Cancer awareness (breast, cervical and ovarian) • Emotional health (stress, depression and mental health) • Violence against women (domestic vioience and sexual abuse) • Health aging (menopause and osteoporosis) • Healthy lifestyles (nutrition and fitness)

• Reproductive heahh (family planning and teen pregnancy prevention) • STD prevention (HIV and others) • Substance abuse (aleohol, drags and tobacco) A statewide series of events organized to increase the awareness and understanding of important women's health issues will begin with a Women's Health Fair at the Honolulu Zoo on Saturday, Sept. 7. The fair will ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All Kaiser and HMSA members will receive a 50 percent discount on their zoo admission price during fair hours when they present their sub-

scriber ID cards. A feature exhibition of Hawaiian herbal plants will be displayed at the zoo fair. A calendar list of all the "Women's Heahh Month" events will be available at loeal pharmacies and heahh clinics across the state.
