HAUNANI APOLIONA □ H A ' 9 B "In the Spirit of Nā Lei Lōkahi" Haunani Apoliona Trustee at Large, OHA '96 Who are we? Where do we stand on important issues and what do we represent? These are valid basic questions to ask.

We are four independent individuals with diverse backgrounds, personalities and talents, but we share a eommon vision and goal for OHA and ultimately for our Hawaiian communities from Kekaha, Kaua'i, to Kekaha, Hawai'i. That vision, our candidacies to OHA, our goal as trustees when elected, and our personal commitment to serve the Hawaiian people are captured by a single mana'o - In the Spirit of Nā Lei Lōkahi - given in the Hawaiian tradition by Aunty Malia Craver. Commonly associated with striving for halanee in all of life, this 'ōlelo means that when people of positive spirit eome together and work together, they achieve harmony. And now more than ever, our peop(e have a strong need for unity and harmony of spirit. More than just a demonstration of the wisdom of our kupuna and our ancestors, in the spirit of Na Lei Lokalu is our" public statement of a critical guiding principle to a shared purpose in seeking election to OHA. It is our commitment to you that when elected to represent the diverse interests of our Hawaiian eommunity, we are committed to working together toward a halanee that benefits everyone. Won't you help to support and promote the spirit of Nā Lei Lōkahi? We ask for your vote and that opportunity.
