The significance of this year's OHA election isn't about cultural style. It's fundamentally about Hawaiian political survival and the very existence of OHA. This past year, the Governor and the Legislature tried to cut the OHA trust entitlement by 80%. We blocked it. Now, the Governor is simply and illegally refusing to pay OHA and our beneficiaries more than $10 million in airport revenues. These are dangerous times for Hawaiians.

We need strong and independent Ieadership. That's why I'm running for re-election. I believe that my poliūeal experience, knowledge of the issues, and proven record of advocacy and accomplishment are needed in the fight ahead. ♦ Together, we ean defeat the real opponent in this eleelion — those who refuse to recognize the rights and entitlements of Hawaiians. Then Hawaiians will not only survive, we will prevail.
