Waimānalo students say 'Mahalo' to OHA

Haumāna (students) from Waimānalo Homestead's Hawaiian language immersion summer program headed to Honolulu last month to say "mahalo a nui loa" to the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and other sponsoring agencies. kumu (teachers) presented ho'okupu whieh were received by OHA Chairman Clayton Hee, Trustees Abraham Aiona, Billie Beamer and Hannah Springer, OHA Administrator Randall Ogata and staff. Program coordinator Charles Naumu credits the determination of the teachers, Ku'ulei

Akaka, Kapono'ai Molitau, Kēhau Smith and Ka'umealani Walk, along with parent support, for the program's success. "Mahalo to the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands for their kōkua," said Naumu. "The vision of the leaders at OHA and the DHHL is coming to pass."

Students from Waimōnalo Homestead's Hawaiian language immersion program visited organizations whieh provided funding for their summer program.
