Before turning to eonstituent concems. the board: J Honored the heroism of Maui resident Harry "Bobo" Pahukoa who saved the lives of se\ eral malihini in Ke'anae last January. □ Recommitted to the Committee on Budget and Finance the possibility of a self-sus-

taining Hawaiian community at Kahikinui on the southem slopes of Haleakalā to be considered jointly by OHA and the Department of Hawaiian Homelands. □ Approved OHA's participation in a memorandum of agreement between the Federal Highways Administration and the state historic preservation office on cultural and historic resources along the alignment of Kealakehe Parkway. □ Recommitted the extension of the Hālawa Valley cultural monitor's contract to the Committee on Land and Sovereignty. □ Approved OHA's joinder with the Kona

Hawaiian Civic Club in a settlement agreement in connection with their lawsuit against the Hualalai Development Corporation and the Army Corp of Engineers for violations of the National Historic Preservation Act during developmental activities at Ka'ūpūlehu Resort. □ Approved a request for proposals for errors and omissions insurance, directors and officers' insurance and retirement insurance. □ Voted by secret ballot on awards for presentation at the October 'Aha Kūpuna conferenee.

□ Approved the memorandum of agreement for the DF1HL, OHA and First Hawaiian bank homestead loan program. (See "BOT restmctures home loan program" on page 2.) □ Approved a monon to pursue the possibility of Federal Rural Housing Service funding for kupuna housing in Waimānalo.
