BOARD BUSINESS

On Dec. 8, the Board of Trustees of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs approved committee assignments, chairs and purviews as well as assignments of trustees to committees and boards outside OHA. See page 1 for more detail. On Dec. 17, the board authorized the administration to create and fill a half-time Community Affairs Coordinator position on Lāna'i. It appointed Gladys Brandt to the OHA Education Foundation and Kahiko Noa Detweiler and Lurline Naone-Salvador to the Native Hawaiian Historic Preservation Council. It approved the composition of the Entitlements and Negotiations Committee as follows: Chair, Trustee Akana; vice chair, Trustee Hee; member, Trustee Trask; alternate, Frenchy DeSoto. For more detail on the legislative paekage approved, see page 16. At its Dec. 21 meeting, the board ratified money manager Bradford and Marzak's successful investment policy regarding BBB securities. It decided to republish the RFP for an investment consultant. The board also adopted two pohcy changes; waiver by committees as well as unbudgeted funding requests must now be approved by a twothirds vote of the board. ■
