Imua Group forms

A new Hawaiian organization called the Lmua Group has formed in response to recent legal and political developments impacting Native Hawaiian rights. The Imua Group's mission, according to member Scotty Bowman, is "to enhanee the traditional culture and values of Hawaiians through education, available resources and, where necessary, poliūeal action, to improve and maintain the quality of life of the kanaka maoli." The group is "committed to being maka'ala (alert) concerning issues whieh affect Hawaiians," Bowman

said. The group's goals include fostering effective communications with government officials and educating Hawaiians about important issues whieh affect them, particularly Hawaiian entitlements.
