Ceded lunds

In a recent Star-Bulletin article Chair Apoliona correctly talks about the "ceded" lands as being the most important issue for OHA. But then she says that to understand the issue state legislators must go back20yeam. This remedy is sadly incorrect. Anyone impacting the ceded lands issue must go back at least 1 09 years to have a real ehanee for a just solution to this issue. The issue begins with the "illegal overthrow" (U.S. Public Law 1 03- 1 50) of the King dom of Hawaii, the formation of the illegal self proclaimed Republic of Hawaii, continues with the socalled annexation by internal resolution, as opposed to treaty, the creation of a "territory and "state" without the legal passage of sovereignty, or legal title to any lands . If the issue of the ceded lands or Hawaiian sovereignty is E\/ER to be justly resolved then we must begin with the facts of how Hawaii became a part ofthe USA. Steve Tayama Via the īnternet
