Kapena Falls

The State of Hawai'i recently issued a perm.it to the film industiy to drop a jeep off Kapena Falls. The community had no say in the matter. Damage was done to the falls and to the area immediately surrounding it. The film industiy has told community membeis they have a plan for repairing the damage and replacing the plant life, but this plan has not been made available to the public. Sen. Suzanne Chun-Oakland has offered to arrange a meeting with a representative of the parties responsible for repairs and replacement and the Friends of Kapena Falls. Those concerned with the film industry's apparent free access to use/abuse public resources, without community input or before-the-fact accountability, are weleome at Sen. See NEWSBRIEFS on page 12
